ABOUT POIANA BRASOV
- POIANA BRASOV green sun and ski destination started development in 1951 on the occasion of the International Student Winter Games, receiving its first hotel and a 2km long ski lift facility. It has developed extensively in terms of accommodation as one of the main mountain destinations until 1989 under the comunist regime. During the last 28 years Poiana Brasov has stayed on top of private mountain leisure investment destination, culminating with the 2011-2013 extensive ski area investment of EUR 25 mil that extended the slope length to 24km (12 pistes; 2 cable cars; 1 gondola; 6 lifts) and added important snow making lake and facilities. The Silvermountain project, the reason you are visiting this page, was conceived to complement the destination with an extensive high end integrated hospitality product to bring Poiana Brasov among the top mountain destinations of the CEE/SEE region. The City of Brasov Council has recently announced plans to invest circa EUR 45 million in further developing the winter sports facilities by expanding the ski area and building additional infrastructure.
